CONSERVATION

Florida’s water, wetlands, and wild land are not renewable once they are paved. Protecting them is the most conservative thing we can do.

Pass native plant landscaping standards and ban the sale of invasive species in Florida.

Repeal the Oliver utilities bill. Restore home rule and the conservation protections it stripped from local communities.

Kill the burdensome-bill and blue-ribbon preemptions that take decisions away from local communities.
Require specialized, dual-inspected environmental protection equipment on every site, with its own permits, fees, and bonding.
Require native plants from state-approved nurseries in new developments, backed by a binding native plant commitment, an annual state compliance fee, and yearly inspections at the developer’s expense.
Raise taxes on development-specific equipment and supplies, and require special permits and license plates for dump trucks and road-bound development equipment.

Fund infrastructure repair and maintenance across the district: repaint Jones Loop and Taylor Road, fix the pothole on Jones Loop by Wendy’s, and find and fix potholes district-wide.
Repaint faded lines, repair crosswalks, and address dangerously tight roads.
Fix the lunchtime traffic backup at US 41 and Monaco Drive.
Add crossway stop signs on the street beside the children’s play park in Port Charlotte.
Fund Punta Gorda water infrastructure and support the city’s boundary expansion.

Landlord transparency: on a tenant’s request, landlords must provide copies of complaints made against that tenant, including date, time, nature of the complaint, and full details.
Car insurance accountability: for customers with no accidents, tickets, unpaid tolls, or claims in the past year, insurers must send a 30-day notice before any rate increase, including a written explanation and an itemized breakdown of what went up and why, with a real opportunity to negotiate the increase before it takes effect.
Victory garden and backyard hen tax refunds.

Bar foreign entities and foreign countries from buying or owning Florida land, water, power, air, oil, and mining assets, with one year to divest existing holdings.

Reduce taxes on agriculture and livestock-based businesses.

Tax incentives for sod growers who convert to native turf.

Amend the state parks cattle bill so parks determine which areas are genuinely suitable for agricultural activity.

Let ranchers set their own beef prices in a competitive market instead of conglomerate monopolies setting them from a boardroom.
End corporate subsidies in Florida agriculture.
Redirect that money into land rehabilitation, nature-congruent agriculture, and native farming and ranching.
Promote native Florida crops in dishes across the state through the Department of Health and the food industry.

Cut burdensome permitting for business owners and contractors. A paint permit is not public safety, it is a toll booth.
